I recently shot some engagements for my (now former) roommate Daniel.  He and Angie are fantastic together and I couldn’t be happier for them!  He was one of the best roommates I ever had, so I’m a little sad to see him go, but can’t you tell how in love they are in some of these shots?

As always, thoughts and critiques are welcome.

Don’t you just love the way she’s staring into his eyes there?  *precious*

Cheers my friends!  May God be with you throughout your marriage!

Engagements

I ran around Houston taking some quick shots for a wedding sign-in book that a couple of friends will be putting together – they’ll use some of their engagement shots, taken by my excellent friend Kelli, and hopefully a couple of these.  Not my best work, by any means…  I was kind of rushed and I made some rookie mistakes by forgetting to change some camera setting…  BUT, I think they’re pretty fun shots and they fit the bill.

As always, comments are appreciated!

Wedding Sign-in Book

Yes, I know I’m way behind on posts – it’s been a busy few months with work and some other things, so my hobby has had to take a back seat.

One really neat experience was that Kelli (my photography mentor) had me come along as a secondary photographer for the engagement shoot of my friends Gordon & Katrina.  It was great to be hands on in that experience, to see how Kelli handles her subjects and works with them…  It was also really interesting to see how Kelli finds her shoot locations and the process she goes through there.  I’ll link directly to Kelli’s blog post on that shoot once it goes live (I’ll not post here since it was her gig – I don’t own any of those images).  Needless to say, it was very fun and a great learning experience!

Here are some hold-overs from Adam & Crystal’s wedding (from October…  I know, I’m slow!).  I’ll move onto some other stuff after this; I have some personal stuff I can probably start posting soon, I just need to get these wedding shots out of the way.  (OH, and check the bottom of the post for a surprise…)

And for all those who want a quick Houston, TX update: it snowed AGAIN yesterday!  That’s two years in a row, which is a bit of a miracle.  I took the following two images after the heavy stuff had already fallen (I was at work at that point), so it may not look impressive – but it was SNOW IN HOUSTON!

Way Behind…

So, I mentioned that I shot my first wedding reception a couple of weeks ago, right? Well, the pictures turned out pretty painful for me to look at to be completely honest. I didn’t have the equipment I would have wanted, nor did I have much warning that I would be helping out the bride (who is a really close friend of mine) by getting my camera out at all. All things considered, it was a fabulous experience! I learned a lot about the do’s and do NOT’s of these types of events, and I certainly learned a few tricks in Photoshop to help with the out of control ISO noise most of my images have.

Anyway, the wedding took place in Manti, UT at the LDS Temple there (I snapped only a couple pictures outside the temple since I was there as a guest and not the photographer):

The reception was held all the way up in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah Alumni Center:

I’ll probably get some more images up from the reception, but these were needed for a second reception up in Othello, WA so I made sure I had them done in time.

Congrats to Crystal and Adam!

I was recently at a conference up in Dallas/Ft. Worth with some friends.  As we were waiting for one of the speakers I made my way through the crowd and found some friends and took a few quick pictures.  No real posing, just told people to smile and I did the best with what I had.  These aren’t necessarily anything super special in quality, but I feel like sharing.  8]

Also, a couple weeks ago I was in Portland and Seattle for a college roommate’s wedding.  It was an absolute blast to be out there, and one of the many great moments was taking my first ever highway ride in a convertible.  I know, I know – it’s sad that I have never done that before, but now I can say I have.  Not willing to waste an opportunity, I had my buddy in the backseat hand me my camera and I took the following image with a shutter speed of 1/10th of a second.  Not too shabby, eh?  I didn’t have much of a “rig” to keep the camera steady, so 1/10th of a second is about the best I could do while still keeping myself relatively sharp and in focus.  Let me know what ya think!  8]

I was asked to help out a young family whose father is heading back into the service this next week by taking some pictures of the kids for him to take with him.  Certainly I said I would love to share my talents, so I ran out to their neck of the woods and took some pictures of their super cute little girls.  Here are a couple images worth sharing!

New Stuff!!!

I’ve really been terrible about getting out over the last little while. Sure, I’ve been busy with work and my social life, but that’s not a terribly good excuse. As part of my repentance, here are some shots from the weekend with Jenny. I picked out that dress (I was a “personal shopper” of sorts while in college – a couple of my lady friends refused to go shopping without me), and we headed out to the country for some pictures. Fun times!

(As always, please leave comments and share some thoughts!)

Jenny’s Photo Shoot

So, I left out a few images from the last update… These are some others that I really like from my shoot with my buddy’s family! (Again, click on the landscape image for an enlargment that looks clear and crisp.)

Family Photos (cont…)

I was asked by a friend if I could do some family photos, so when I was headed over for a monthly get together we scheduled in some time for everyone to head into the yard for some pictures.  I think they turned out pretty great, so here are a couple samples.  (BTW, their daughter is the cutest…  I love that I am Uncle Jeff – I get to do fun things like let her drive my new car when her parents aren’t looking!!!  haha…)

(Click on each image to embiggen…  I need to find a better way to resize images BEFORE importing them into WordPress…  The images are not normally this blocky.)

Shares comments and thoughts, por fa!
